Softball Background

Chris Estrada was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. He has been coaching for 19 years and has been the director of the El Paso Firecrackers Organization since 2014. Since he has started coaching, he has helped 57 (updated 6/6/24) young women reach their dreams of playing softball at the next level ranging from Division I to JUCO, professional, and international level. Over the span of his career, Chris has made a name for softball in El Paso. His very first team was ranked 64th for 18U NPS – US Club Rankings and finished 84th in the 18U final national rankings in 2019.

One of his biggest accomplishments while being the head of the Firecrackers Organization in El Paso is the Hector Flores Showcase. The first of its kind to be brought to the city of El Paso and has continued to give young women in the area the opportunity to be seen by college coaches and continue their education while also playing the sport they love. The showcase has been successful and is now in its 9th year running.

Family Background

Chris also has experience playing at the collegiate level himself. Prior to his coaching career, he was a part of the inaugural baseball team at El Paso Community College (EPCC). After his time at EPCC, he then transferred to Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas where he helped his team win the ASC conference championship in 1999. He then graduated from Sul Ross State University with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology in 2000. He then received his master’s degree in Exercise Science from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP).

Aside from being a coach and director, Chris is a husband to his wife Christy and a father to his three children Sky, Deuce, and Aydenn. His passion for coaching came from wanting to help his eldest daughter play at the next level, and he continues to carry that passion as his organization grows.
